Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and phone number when you create an account. We also collect usage data including listening history, preferences, and device information to improve your experience.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to provide and personalize the Shima service, process payments, send important notifications, and improve content recommendations. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Payment information is processed securely through UrubutoPay and is never stored on our servers. All data transmission is encrypted using TLS.

4. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can manage your preferences in the app settings or contact us at privacy@ntwari.com. You may also request a copy of all data we hold about you.

5. Account Deletion & 30-Day Recovery

You can delete your Shima account at any time from inside the mobile app at Profile → Account → Delete Account. The deletion is not immediate — instead, your account enters a 30-day grace period during which:

  • Your account is signed out of every device and is not accessible.
  • If your account is connected to an email address, we send a one-tap recovery link to that email immediately. Clicking the link before the 30 days expire fully restores your account, your subscription, your library, and your preferences.
  • If your account uses phone-only sign-in (no email on file), simply signing back into the app within the 30 days cancels the deletion and restores your account.
  • You will not be billed for any subscription renewal that would have occurred during the grace period.

After 30 days your profile, library, downloads, history, follows, and personal preferences are permanently removed from our active systems. Some records that we are required to keep for legal or financial reasons (for example, transactional payment records and audit logs) are retained for the period required by law and are anonymised so they can no longer be linked back to you.

If you signed in with Sign in with Apple, also remove the Shima entry from Settings → Apple ID → Sign in with Apple on your iPhone to fully revoke the link between your Apple ID and Shima. We are working to perform this revocation automatically; until then, this manual step ensures the connection is fully cut on Apple's side.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies and analytics to understand how you interact with our service. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. We use anonymized analytics data to improve our platform.
